Macbook Pro RAM Upgrade
Wohoo! I’ve installed some 16 Gb RAM in my Maxbook Pro that I crowdsourced for my 25-th birthday!
It only had 4 Gb of RAM initially and it was pretty slow when I would have lots of windows open in Chrome or a few programs running at the same time.
Considering that RAM upgrade from Apple would cost a fortune, I went the DIY way and don’t regret it.
I bought 2 of these 8GB modules as a pack for $89.98 bringing the total to 16 Gb:
After installation that takes 5 minutes, I replaced my 2x2Gb modules with these and now I have 16 Gb RAM,
check out the Activity Monitor stats, with 6 memory heavy applications running:
– Chrome with 8 tabs
– Photoshop with 3 large files
– Tower for Git Management
– XCode opened with a project
– Sublime Text 2
– Evernote
So now my computer really flies and the RAM upgrade spares it from writing a large swapfile to the Hard drive (which slows down the whole system by a huge factor).
Memory upgrade is affordable these days. Here’s the link to what I got :
Corsair 16GB Dual Channel DDR3 SODIMM Memory Kit (CMSO16GX3M2A1333C9)
And here are all main accessories I use with my Macbook:
